Emergencies can come without warning at ay time. Being prepared physically and psychologically to handle unexpected accidents or disasters is an individual as well as an organizational responsibility. Your safety is of primary importance. This Web site has been created to help you be more prepared in the event of future emergencies.
UCSB Emergency Response Procedures
EH&S has developed a guide known as the UCSB Emergency Information Flip Chart to assist you in minimizing the effects of specific campus emergencies. Keep this guide where it will be immediately available for quick reference in an emergency, preferably mounted on a wall. For response procedure for specific campus emergencies, please click here.
UCSB’s emergency notification system enables the campus to send emergency messages to the campus community.
Call the Campus Emergency Information (Toll Free) number 888-488-UCSB to get the latest status of the campus during a major emergency.
Breaking news updates will be available on the main UCSB Web site as soon as possible.
If we are asked to evacuate our building, where do we go?
Each campus work and living area has posted “Building Specific Emergency Information”. This information is available to all members of the campus community who use those areas. Please familiarize yourself with this data for your building and also the actions to take in the UCSB Emergency Information Flip Chart. Then follow the guidance of emergency workers.
For immediate life or health-threatening emergencies dial 9-911 from campus phones.
For non-immediate (injuries not threatening to life or limb) medical assistance see the Student Health Web site
Distressed Student Guidelines (guidance for making decisions in commonly seen situations on campus)
